Parenthood Can Still Be Planned...For Another Fiscal Year At Least...

A little late, but nonetheless: FUCK. YES.

In the quest to get a budget bill passed for the 2011 fiscal year, the House voted to discontinue federal funding for Planned Parenthood by a 241-185 vote. However, the Senate rejected the spending bill by a narrow margin of 42-58. In order for the bill to discontinue funding Planned Parenthood to pass, congress would have had to come to a unified decision, which luckily they did not.

What this means is that at least for the next fiscal year Planned Parenthood will continue to receive federal funding.

What makes me the most angry is when people say that Planned Parenthood is an abortion organization. No assholes. Sure they provide women with the right to choose to end their pregnancy, but they also offer a wide array of services to low-income women. This includes cheap/free birth control, gynecological services, sexual education outreach, etc. Their preventative reproductive services are not only beneficial for the women who receive them, but they also benefit the general public. "The Guttmacher Institute estimated in 2008 that every dollar spent on family planning saves taxpayers $3.74 in government spending on prenatal care, childbirth, and the first year of an infant's health care. "

Moral of the day: Don't fuck with bitches' birth control.
